High School and Middle School Mountain Bike Teams

MTB Team

Welcome to the 2026 Season

This is a “composite” team so we can accept riders from across the region (loosely defined as Northern New Mexico). Any high school or middle school student with a desire to ride and race mountain bikes is welcome. Coaches are enthusiastic, experienced, and trained to support high school riders.

The High School Team races with the Colorado League and participates in 5 races during the fall season.

The Middle School Team races with the New Mexico NICA League (NMICL) and participates in 5 races during the fall season.

Practices are 3 times per week for high schoolers (Tuesdays and Thursdays after school plus a group “stoke” ride on alternating Sundays).
Middle school riders practice Tuesdays and some Sundays.

We support inclusivity. Any rider. Any pace. Scholarships available. Busy schedules accommodated. Fun promised. We are always looking for new coaches and also volunteers to ride with us.

When you are ready to join the team or if you want to learn more, below are the links to all necessary paperwork that needs to be printed, completed and turned in for the athlete to ride.

Ride the Rift

SUNDAY OCTOBER 18th, 2026
10am-4pm

This is a FREE, non-competitive, community mountain bike event and fundraiser designed to ALL LEVELS and ALL AGES of riders - the super tough adventurer, the regular weekend warrior and the parent and kids who ride a few times a year. The intent is to bring the Taos cycling community together for a fun, casual, non-competitive day of riding on some of Taos' most accessible singletrack. Build community, make new friends, ride a loved Taos trail system, and enjoy nature on great BLM singletrack! It's FREE so everyone can enjoy. Brought to you by the Field Institute of Taos, sponsored by super cool, community minded local businesses (see below). Staging is at the end of County Road 110. Look for the tipis and go about 4+ miles to the end of the road (and we do mean the end of the road). Past UNM Taos and the golf course. Check our Facebook page for updates.

To support the Teams, please note your wishes on the donation
